Option 1: Wash and dry the basil leaves (stems should be discarded). Then they are spread on a cookie sheet and flash freeze. Transfer basil in freezer bags and used when needed.

Option 2: Blanch basil leaves for 15 seconds. Then plunge into ice water to stop the cooking. Dry thoroughly. Then flash frozen as described in Option 1.

Option 3:freezing basil
Use a food processor to chop the basil leaves roughly own. Then add a dash of olive oil and pulse to lightly coat the leaves with oil (to prevent the basil will turn black in the freezer). Take the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze.freezing basil
Finite cubes transferred to freezer bags and used when needed. Once the cube is the equivalent of two tablespoons of fresh basil.

Tips:

1. Basil tends to turn black when it freezes. While maintaining that bright green is important to you, use option 3.

Two. The oil should be added basil if you are frozen.freezing basil
Storing basil in oil, either in the refrigerator or at room temperature, is a botulisum risk.

Three. Planning to use basil in hot water? Simply add the basil frozen directly in the pot. No need to thaw first.freezing basil
